From the opening chords of ‘I Can’t Explain’ to the Iconic scream in ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again,’ every Wholigan in Dublin’s 3Arena, Danced, Stomped and Roared in unison as we once again witnessed the Magic of Townshend, Daltrey and Co.
The Who Hits 50 as Pete and Rog hit 70, but don’t let that fool you, this wasn’t two elder Statesmen going through the motions, they played just as enthusiastically as they did in The Railway Hotel in 1964, Daltrey hit all the notes with ease and Townshend effortlessly broke out the Birdman and the Windmills. The harmonies on ‘A Quick One’ and ‘I Can See For Miles’ were sublime. They didn’t need tricks and special effects either to cover over the cracks, there simply were none. All of these things just confirmed that this band still is one of the greatest Rock ‘n’ Roll bands in the world.
The Who play Hyde Park tonight and Glastonbury on Sunday.
Expect to hear a Handful of The Who tonight at 8pm on Ready Steady GO! also on the playlist, The Action, The Kinks, Paul Weller, The Clash, Marvin Gaye, James Brown, The Strypes, the brand new single from Dublin’s The Statics and lots more 60’s Soul.
Check it out Online, Digital and UPC Channel 944.
