I recently caught up with Tim DeLaughter from Choral Rock Ensemble The Polyphonic Spree ahead of their return to Dublin for ‘The trees are getting harder to climb,’ 15th Anniversary Tour, when they will play their debut album ‘The Beginning Stages Of…’ in its entirety.
This is the album that spawned their huge hit ‘Light & Day/Reach For The Sun,’ which was used in Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, Scrubs, advertisements for Sainsbury’s and it was also the theme song in the trailer for The Lorax. They have released so much stellar material since ‘The Beginning,’ and they really are an exciting live act musically and visually. We spoke about the challenges and joys of travelling with such a huge band, we drool over vinyl and talk about what’s next for the Polyphonic Spree. All of this is coming up next Friday August 14th on Ready Steady GO!
Make sure to tune in and keep your eye on the facebook page for a chance to win a double pass to their Dublin show which takes place on August 31st in The Academy.
Coming up tonight at 8pm on Ready Steady GO! An hour of 60’s Pop, Soul, Beats, Northern Soul with a Nod To The Modern, featuring The Kinks, Zoot, Mary McCarthy, Amy Winehouse, three in a row from Motown and more. I will be lifting a couple of tracks from this week’s Vinyl find, I have your Irish Mod and Soul Gig Guide and a wee farewell to Cilla Black.
