Ready Steady GO! back to the Monterey International Pop Festival 1967

As festival season approaches, we take a look at one of the first and the template for festivals as we know them today.

Tonight’s show is a Tribute to the legendary Monterey International Pop Festival, which took place this week in 1967.

Ready Steady GO! will be jam packed with Highlights from Monterey, including Epic performances by Otis Redding, the first major American appearances by The Who, Jimi Hendrix, and Ravi Shankar.  We have Janis Joplin as a member of Big Brother and The Holding Company in one of her first major public performances.  More music from The Association, The Mama’s & The Papa’s, Jefferson Airplane, Lou Rawls and some Stax brilliance from Booker T & the MG’s.

Shaun Walker from Modern Day Events ( Simon Townshend & The Circles) will join me for the hour as we pick the best bits and chat about everything that propelled ‘Monterey’ into legendary status, the backstage bits, cancellations, no shows and hissy fits..

Tonight @8pm RTE 2XM Online, Digital and on UPC Channel 944.
