Dan’s Albums Of The Week: Santigold, Steve Mason, & The Bonnevilles

Albums number one and two from Santigold proved to be truly special. So what were the chances of Santi White making it three in a row? Whatever they were, she’s done it with ‘99C’. In some ways it continues from where, ‘Master Of My Make Believe’ concluded, but it is different enough to win you over with ease.

Steve Mason

Since leaving The Beta Band, Steve Mason has released a number of excellent albums, none better than 2013’s ‘Monkey Minds In The Devil’s Time’. That is until now; his new album ‘Meet The Humans’ is as complete an album as you could possibly hope to find. It’s one of those albums that continues to reveal its numerous layers the more you listen to it.

The Bonnevilles

The Bonnevilles are back with new music in the form of the album ‘Arrow Pierce My Heart’. Simply calling this Blues Rock wouldn’t do it justice, there’s something more progressive and aggressive going on here. Their own description of “Garage Punk Blues duo” works a lot better.  ‘Arrow Pierce My Heart’ contains the duo’s best work, and it’s quite a statement.
